The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies (FHTS), The Maldives National University (MNU) participated in Fahi Sufura 2024 through a pastry showcase held alongside alumni-led businesses, Infusions.mv by Mumeeth and Mocchhikeki by Hawwa Muna.

The showcase featured a variety of pastry snacks and provided a platform for participants to demonstrate their culinary creativity, pastry skills and knowledge while engaging with the wider hospitality and food industry. The activity also created opportunities for participants to gain practical exposure and interact with different aspects of the food and pastry sector.

A key feature of the showcase was the participation of FHTS alumni who have established businesses within the food and pastry sector. Their involvement highlighted the continued connection between FHTS and its graduates while demonstrating how knowledge and skills gained through hospitality education can support entrepreneurship and professional pathways.

Engagement with alumni-led businesses also provided participants with opportunities for knowledge sharing and exposure to real-world experiences. Through these interactions, participants gained insights into professional practices, industry expectations and the opportunities available within the hospitality and pastry sector.

The activity provided participants with practical exposure and an opportunity to showcase their pastry skills and creativity. Interacting with alumni and other industry participants supported the development of confidence, communication and industry awareness, while creating opportunities to build professional connections.

The showcase also demonstrated the potential for hospitality education to contribute to both employment and entrepreneurial pathways.
