The Centre for Educational Technology and Excellence (CETE) at The Maldives National University (MNU) conducted “Robogogy: Integrating Robotics into Education” on 16 September 2025 at the e-Facilitation Room, MNU. The session was the first workshop of the EduTech Symposium 2025, held under the theme “Leveraging Education through the Advancement of Technology.”
The workshop brought together around 20 participants from MNU, the National Institute of Education, Keyodhoo School, Kondey School, Universiti Tun Abdul Razak, Malaysia, and the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), India.
Facilitated by Dr. Ali Fawaz Shareef, Adam Khalid, Dr. Fathimath Shougee, Dr. Aminath Waseela, Mariyam Humra, and Mariyam Nadhira, the session explored innovative approaches to transforming learning through robotics. It introduced simplified programming, robotics-based inquiry, and design-driven learning activities, with particular attention to educators without an IT background.
The workshop aimed to strengthen educators’ confidence in integrating robotics into teaching, inspire more creative and engaging classroom activities, and create opportunities to develop students’ problem-solving skills through hands-on, inquiry-based learning.
The workshop aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education by supporting educators’ professional development and promoting engaging teaching practices. Its emphasis on robotics and problem-solving reflected the innovation dimension of SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, while knowledge sharing across educational institutions supported SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
