21 April 2025

The Maldives National University (MNU) has officially opened applications for its pioneering initiative, MNU InnovateHub, the first university-led business incubator in the Maldives. The announcement was made on 21 April 2025.

MNU InnovateHub was officially launched on 4 July 2024 and is designed to build an ecosystem that fosters entrepreneurship and innovation within the university community. MNU InnovateHub aims to nurture entrepreneurial thinking and practical skills essential for a sustainable future. Through structured programmes focused on idea development, incubation, and acceleration, the MNU InnovateHub supports MNU students in turning their ideas into impactful ventures.

The initiative provides three tiers of seed-capital funding, ranging from small to medium and high, offering up to MVR 50,000, MVR 225,000, and MVR 500,000, exclusively for MNU students. This funding will support prototype creation, market research and the development of early-stage startups. Participants will also receive guidance from industry experts and mentors throughout the programme.

MNU encourages students to begin preparing their proposals and take advantage of this unique opportunity. The MNU InnovateHub is expected to play a vital role in enabling student ideas to transition into sustainable commercial ventures, strengthening national efforts in sustainability, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
