Assistant Professor Dr. Mohamed Umar Staff participated in an MNU SMART Learning Session on “Critical Thinking” held on 05 November 2025. The session was designed to strengthen participants’ ability to analyse information, evaluate ideas, solve problems, and apply critical thinking skills in academic and professional contexts.
The session focused on developing higher-order thinking skills, reflective learning, critical analysis, and effective decision-making. Participants were encouraged to engage with information thoughtfully, consider different perspectives, and apply reasoning skills to address challenges in both educational and professional settings.
Participation in the session contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4): Quality Education by promoting lifelong learning, strengthening cognitive and analytical skills, and enhancing the capacity of educators and learners to engage in meaningful and effective learning.
The initiative also supports SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by promoting inclusive learning opportunities that recognise and support the needs of diverse learners. By strengthening critical thinking and reflective learning practices, such sessions can contribute to creating more accessible and supportive educational environments.
Furthermore, the session contributes to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by encouraging knowledge sharing, professional learning, and collaboration within the university community. Such initiatives strengthen a culture of continuous professional development and collective learning among academic staff.
Through participation in the MNU SMART Learning Session, Dr. Mohamed Umar Staff demonstrated a commitment to continuous professional development, innovative learning practices, and the advancement of quality and inclusive education, contributing to the broader achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
