Her Excellency Dewi Gustina Tobing, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Sri Lanka, with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Maldives since 2021, paid a courtesy visit to the Maldives National University (MNU) Central Library during her visit to the Maldives National University.
Her Excellency was welcomed by the Senior Management Team of the MNU Library, who provided an overview of the Library’s role in supporting the University’s teaching, learning, research, and academic activities. The team highlighted the range of services and resources made available to students and staff across MNU, including physical collections, digital resources, electronic databases, and other academic information services.
During the visit, discussions focused on the effective use and accessibility of library resources in supporting the academic community. Her Excellency was also introduced to Saruna, MNU Library’s digital repository dedicated to preserving and providing access to Maldivian scholarly, cultural, and locally relevant knowledge resources. The introduction highlighted the importance of digital repositories in preserving national knowledge and facilitating wider access to locally produced academic and cultural content.
Her Excellency also took an interest in the Library’s special display organised to commemorate World Tourism Day, which showcased selected resources and materials related to tourism and its significance to the Maldives. The display provided an opportunity to highlight the Library’s role in supporting academic disciplines and areas of national importance through curated information resources.
The Senior Management Team further briefed Her Excellency on the network of MNU campus libraries, their services, and the process through which students are enrolled and provided access to library. The visit provided an opportunity to share the evolving role of the MNU Library in strengthening access to scholarly information and supporting the University’s academic mission, while also fostering engagement and knowledge exchange with the diplomatic community.
