A Professional Development Programme was conducted for academic staff, with the first session held at K. Huraa Island on 5 December 2024. The programme focused on strengthening academic staff capacity in research and professional practice through sessions on “Action Research and Qualitative Research” and Coaching.
The session on Action Research and Qualitative Research was facilitated by Chancellor Dr. Mahmood Shougee and Senior Lecturer Dr. Aminath Waseela, providing academic staff with opportunities to strengthen their understanding and application of research methodologies relevant to educational practice. A separate session on Coaching, facilitated by Mr. Hussain Shareef, focused on developing coaching skills and supporting effective professional development and staff engagement.
The programme contributes to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by strengthening the research capacity, professional knowledge, and teaching practices of academic staff. It supports SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by promoting continuous professional development, workplace skills, and professional capacity building. The initiative also contributes to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by encouraging knowledge sharing, professional collaboration, and the exchange of expertise among academic and professional staff.
