The Maldives National University (MNU) and Kolamaafushi Council have formalised an agreement for the handover of land in GA. Kolamaafushi to establish and operate an outreach centre under the Fisheries College of The Maldives National University.

This initiative marks an important step towards expanding access to fisheries education and strengthening research opportunities in the atoll communities. The establishment of the outreach centre is expected to support the development of fisheries-related knowledge and skills while promoting sustainable marine resource management.

The collaboration reflects MNU’s continued commitment to expanding educational opportunities beyond the capital and supporting national efforts to strengthen the fisheries sector through education, research and community engagement.
