MNU Thinadhoo Campus Marks World Mental Health Day with Activities Promoting Well-being and Kindness

19th October 2026

MNU Thinadhoo Campus marked World Mental Health Day on 25 October 2026 with a series of interactive and creative activities designed to promote mental well-being, kindness, gratitude, stress awareness, and a positive campus environment among students and staff.

From the campus entrance to the classrooms, students were welcomed by a pathway decorated with paper flowers and a series of positive messages encouraging happiness, confidence, resilience, and self-worth. The messages were displayed progressively along the walkway, creating an uplifting experience as students entered the campus and made their way to classes.

Several interactive well-being stations were also arranged around the campus. The Blooming Kindness activity encouraged students to pick a flower, choose a kind message, and share positivity with others. A Gratitude Tree invited participants to reflect on and write down something they were thankful for, helping promote gratitude and positive reflection.

A Stress Check-In Board provided students with a simple way to reflect on how they were feeling, while a Doodle Colouring Board offered a relaxing and creative space for self-expression. Together, these activities encouraged students to recognise their emotions, pause during their daily routines, and engage in simple practices that can support emotional well-being.

A dedicated Mental Health Corner for staff was also arranged, offering positive messages and small engraved takeaways. The activity provided a space for staff to reflect on self-care, encouragement, and workplace well-being while reinforcing the message that mental health is an important part of overall health.

The initiative contributes to SDG 3 by promoting mental health and well-being, stress awareness, emotional resilience, self-care, and positive health behaviours. Creating opportunities for students and staff to reflect on their emotions and well-being supports a healthier and more supportive campus community.

The activities also contribute to SDG 4 by creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment where student well-being, social-emotional development, creativity, and positive relationships are recognised as important elements of the educational experience.

By promoting staff well-being, positive workplace relationships, and a culture of care, the initiative further supports SDG 8, particularly through efforts to encourage a healthy, supportive, and positive working environment.

Through the World Mental Health Day activities, MNU Thinadhoo Campus encouraged students and staff to recognise the importance of kindness, gratitude, emotional awareness, and self-care, while reinforcing the message that small positive actions can contribute to a healthier and more supportive campus community.

MNU Thinadhoo Campus appreciates all students, staff, organisers, and contributors who participated in and supported the activities, helping create a day centred on well-being, kindness, reflection, and connection.
