One Celebration, Every Campus, Connected Live

14th October 2026

The Maldives National University brought together the University community across its campuses for a memorable Teachers’ Day celebration. The celebration, organised by the Faculty of Education in collaboration with the Faculty of Education Students’ Association (FESA) and The Maldives National University student Union (MNUSU), brought together MNU management, students, Faculty of Education staff, campus management and staff from across the University, student leaders, and invited guests. Staff and students at the campuses joined the celebration live, connecting the University community across islands and campuses.

A key highlight of the celebration was the launch of the Faculty of Education’s 50th Anniversary Countdown, marking the beginning of a significant milestone in the faculty’s journey and its longstanding contribution to teacher education and the development of the education sector in the Maldives. Dr. Ali Fawaz Shareef, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs) officially launched the countdown and addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of teachers and the vital role of teacher education in shaping the future of the nation.

The programme continued with a group photograph and cake-cutting ceremony, followed by an appreciation segment recognising the dedication and contribution of lecturers, led by FESA and student leaders. Teachers’ Day activities and games further added to the spirit of celebration and provided an opportunity for staff and students to interact, connect and celebrate together. The event concluded with a lucky draw and Teachers’ Day luncheon, bringing members of the MNU community together in a spirit of appreciation, collegiality and shared purpose.

The celebration reflected the Faculty of Education’s commitment to recognising and celebrating educators who play a fundamental role in ensuring inclusive, equitable and quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities. It also highlighted the importance of connecting members of the MNU community across different islands and campuses, ensuring that distance does not prevent participation in shared University experiences. The event further demonstrated the value of collaboration among the Faculty, FESA, MNU management, campus communities, staff and students, strengthening the teaching profession, supporting teacher development and fostering a culture of educational excellence.

More than a Teachers’ Day celebration, the event was a powerful expression of One MNU-different islands and campuses connected as one University, united by one profession and one purpose: shaping the future through education.

Connected live. United in purpose. Inspired to teach.
