15 July 2025

The Maldives National University (MNU) has taken an important step towards strengthening institutional governance, accountability, and quality assurance through preparations for its Internal Compliance Audit, initiated by the Policy and Quality Control Unit.

The preparatory work was undertaken following guidance from the Council Subcommittee and the Audit and Risk Committee. Preliminary audit activities and documentation were completed to support a systematic review of institutional compliance with policies, procedures, and governance requirements.

The initiative is expected to contribute to improved institutional effectiveness by strengthening internal controls, promoting transparency, and supporting evidence-based decision-making. Through a structured compliance review, the University aims to identify opportunities for improvement, reinforce accountability, and ensure that institutional policies and procedures are effectively implemented.

The audit is expected to be presented to the Audit and Risk Committee in 2026. Its outcomes are intended to support continuous institutional improvement and further strengthen MNU’s quality assurance framework. Through this initiative, MNU reaffirms its commitment to responsible institutional management, effective governance, and the continuous enhancement of the quality of higher education.
