Fahi Sihhath Health Fair Reaches 1,500 People with Maternal and Newborn Health Messages

25 April 2025

The Maldives National University (MNU), in collaboration with UNICEF and the World Health Organization, held the Fahi Sihhath Health Fair 2025 at Artificial Beach, Malé, on 25 April 2025. Marking World Health Day under the theme “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures,” the event focused on maternal and newborn health and reached approximately 1,500 people.

Fifteen thematic stalls run by academic departments, hospitals, government agencies and nongovernmental organisations offered screenings, demonstrations and interactive health education. Topics included maternal care, newborn care, nutrition, diabetes, immunisation and mental health. The fair gave the public accessible preventive health information while bringing the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) and other partners together around early-life health.

The partnership brought together education, health services and community outreach in a setting where families could directly access practical information.

The fair advances SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through maternal and newborn health education, SDG 4 (Quality Education) through public learning, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through cooperation among universities, health services and international agencies.
