The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) participated in a panel discussion on “Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls” on 29 November 2025, organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Social and Family Development.
The session brought together MNU staff, students and representatives from the Ministry of Social and Family Development to raise awareness of technology-facilitated forms of violence and their implications for the safety and wellbeing of women and girls.
The discussion provided an opportunity to explore the impact of digital violence and promote awareness of safer digital practices and appropriate responses to technology-facilitated violence. Particular attention to these issues can help young people recognise potential risks and understand avenues for seeking support and responding appropriately.
FHS staff members Zeenath Shairk, Mariyam Neeris and Aminath Samha attended the session, which was coordinated by Fathimath Nahla.
The initiative also provided a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration between MNU and government stakeholders working to promote youth safety and prevent gender-based violence. Engagement across education, health and social sectors contributes to a more coordinated approach to addressing the wellbeing and safety of young people.
The initiative contributed to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by promoting awareness of issues affecting psychological wellbeing and safety, and SDG 5 (Gender Equality) through awareness and prevention efforts addressing violence against women and girls.
