Health Promotion Event – Hithadhoo Campus

A community health-promotion event was conducted in Hithadhoo to provide residents with practical, understandable information on healthy living, disease prevention, early recognition of health concerns, and appropriate use of health services. Nursing students and staff engaged participants through educational and interactive activities and adapted health messages for a community setting. The programme strengthened students’ ability to translate nursing knowledge into public education while developing communication, teamwork, leadership, and community-engagement skills. It supported good health and well-being, quality education, reduced geographical inequalities, sustainable communities, and partnerships.

The event directly reached 187 participants and improved community access to reliable health information. It encouraged healthier choices and preventive action while strengthening nursing students’ practical competence in communication, health education, teamwork, and leadership. The programme also supported equitable outreach beyond Greater Malé and strengthened engagement between MNU and the Hithadhoo community.
