12th May 2025

The Maldives National University hosted the Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific 2025 forum, organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and Planning and UNESCAP, under the timely theme “Understanding the Macroeconomic Implications of Climate Change.”

The forum fostered insightful dialogue on integrating climate realities into macroeconomic planning and sustainable growth strategies, bringing together speakers, partners and participants for a meaningful step toward climate-conscious policy development.

Dr. Ahmed Inaz, Senior Lecturer and Assistant Professor at The Maldives National University, served as a panel member, while Ms. Aishath Shaheen, Dean of MNUBS, delivered the closing remarks.

MNUBS thanks all speakers, partners and participants for making the event a success.

This initiative supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by advancing knowledge exchange on climate and economic policy, SDG 13 (Climate Action) by integrating climate considerations into macroeconomic planning, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by bringing together the university, the Ministry of Finance and Planning, and UNESCAP.
