H.Dh. Hirimaradhoo, 30 August 2025: Senior Lecturer Zahira Mohamed and Ibrahim Mohamed conducted a professional development session for teachers of H.Dh. Hirimaradhoo School, focusing on “Supporting Students’ Mental Health” and “Classroom Management and Team Building.”
The session aimed to strengthen teachers’ knowledge, skills, and confidence in promoting students’ mental and emotional well-being while fostering safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments.
During the session, participants explored ways to better understand students’ mental health needs, recognise potential challenges, and provide appropriate support within the school setting. Discussions also highlighted the importance of creating classrooms where students feel respected, valued, included, and empowered to participate meaningfully in their learning.
The classroom management and team-building component introduced practical approaches to strengthening positive relationships, encouraging collaboration, and maintaining supportive classroom environments. These strategies are essential in creating learning spaces that promote inclusion, belonging, and positive social and emotional development.
The professional development initiative contributes to the broader pursuit of quality and inclusive education, while supporting the health and well-being of learners. By strengthening teachers’ capacity to respond to the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of students, the session also promotes equitable learning opportunities, inclusive learning environments, and lifelong learning.
The session further underscored the important role educators play in advancing student well-being, inclusion, meaningful participation, and holistic development. Through continued professional development, teachers are better equipped to create positive learning environments that support both the educational and wider well-being needs of every learner.
