Department of Public Health Advances Research Grant Development

22 May 2024

On 22 May 2024, the Department of Public Health, undertook research proposal and grant application work to strengthen its research capacity. The work developed the department’s readiness to pursue funded public health research and generate evidence relevant to health practice.

Proposal development is one step in building a sustained research programme. The activity strengthened proposal-writing capacity and supported a departmental culture of evidence-informed public health.

Building the capacity to prepare competitive proposals can help FHS pursue research that responds to public health priorities and bring research experience into academic teaching.

By developing public health research capacity, the activity supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education). Its emphasis on collaborative research also relates to SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
