Members of the Senior Management Team of the MNU Library participated in the session “Rethinking Academia in the AI Era,” conducted by the Faculty of Arts, The Maldives National University, on 23 September 2026.

Facilitated by Professor Dr. Dilara Begum of East West University, Bangladesh, the session explored the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education, with discussions focusing on teaching, learning, research, AI literacy, academic integrity, and the responsible and ethical use of AI.

The session also introduced the concept of an AI Literacy Desk as a potential initiative to support students and academics in navigating the responsible use of AI within the academic environment.

Participation in the session provided an opportunity for the Library’s Senior Management Team to engage in discussions on emerging developments in AI and their implications for academic support, information literacy, research, and learning. The session further highlighted the importance of adapting academic support services to meet the changing needs of students and academics in an increasingly AI-driven educational environment.
