The Maldives National University (MNU) held the Investiture Ceremony for Zulaikha Reesha Rashad, marking her appointment as the Dean of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies (FHTS).
The appointment recognises Dean Zulaikha Reesha Rashad’s academic experience, leadership, and continued service to the faculty and the field of hospitality and tourism education in the Maldives. She has served in various academic roles at MNU, including as a Lecturer at FHTS from 2024 to 2026 and as an Associate Lecturer during 2020–2023 and 2016–2018.
In her remarks, the newly appointed Dean outlined her commitment to building on the faculty’s existing strengths and advancing academic excellence, innovation, and quality in hospitality and tourism education. Her priorities include expanding high-quality academic programmes, pursuing academic accreditation, strengthening scholarly research, and ensuring that the Faculty’s academic activities remain aligned with national development priorities.
She also highlighted the importance of integrating digital resources and promoting sustainable growth within the faculty. Her vision focuses on producing graduates equipped with industry-relevant knowledge and technical skills, while upholding strong ethical and professional standards and preparing them to contribute meaningfully to the sustainable development of the Maldives.
The appointment supports MNU’s broader commitment to quality education, decent work and economic growth, and sustainable development, particularly through strengthening higher education and developing skilled graduates for the hospitality and tourism sector.
