07th September 2026

The Maldives National University (MNU) conducted a Career Guidance Session today for approximately 300 Grade 8 students of Jamaluddin School, supporting students in making informed decisions about their academic pathways, stream selection and future careers.

The session was delivered by MNU career guidance experts. The session focused on helping students understand their academic options, identify pathways that align with their interests and abilities, and make informed decisions when selecting their future academic streams.

Through interactive discussions and guidance, students were introduced to the connection between academic choices, skills development and future career opportunities. The session also encouraged students to recognise their strengths, explore diverse fields of study and consider career pathways that align with their aspirations.

MNU’s engagement with Jamaluddin School reflects the University’s continued commitment to supporting secondary school students during important stages of their educational journey. By extending its expertise and resources to schools, MNU aims to strengthen the transition from secondary education to higher education and employment.

The initiative contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by promoting access to educational and career guidance that supports informed learning choices. It also supports SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by helping young people gain a better understanding of career pathways and future opportunities.

The session further contributes to SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by promoting access to career information and guidance, while strengthening collaboration between educational institutions in line with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

Through initiatives such as this, MNU continues to engage with schools and communities, empowering young people with the knowledge, confidence and guidance needed to make informed decisions and build meaningful pathways for their futures.
