The Centre for Educational Technology and Excellence (CETE) successfully conducted two training sessions on “Leveraging NotebookLM AI for Engaging Teaching and Learning” on 8 and 9 June 2026. The sessions were facilitated by Ibrahim Adam, Instructional Designer at CETE, and delivered through a hybrid mode, allowing participants to attend either face-to-face or online.

A total of 39 academic staff members participated across the two sessions. The workshop introduced participants to NotebookLM AI as an innovative instructional tool that can transform authentic teaching materials into engaging learning experiences. Participants explored practical applications of NotebookLM, including generating audio-based summaries, creating mind maps, and developing guided question prompts to support active learning and student engagement.

The hands-on training focused on equipping educators with practical skills to organize and utilize their own content within NotebookLM, while also promoting the responsible integration of artificial intelligence into teaching and learning practices.

Feedback from participants was highly positive, with many highlighting the usefulness and relevance of the training. Participants expressed strong interest in applying NotebookLM within their own teaching and learning contexts and recognized its potential to enhance student engagement, critical thinking, and personalized learning experiences.

Through initiatives such as this, CETE continues to support academic staff in exploring emerging educational technologies and adopting innovative approaches that enrich the learning experience for students.
