MNU Strengthens International Collaboration through China–Maldives Cultural Exchange Zone Initiative

The Maldives National University (MNU), in collaboration with Yunnan Open University (YoU), successfully hosted the landmark Launching Ceremony of the “China–Maldives Cultural Exchange Zone” on the Learning Platform of Lancang Mekong Open College, Yunnan Open University.

The initiative marks an important milestone in strengthening educational cooperation and cultural ties between the Maldives and China, creating a dynamic digital platform designed to promote international collaboration, academic exchange, and deeper cultural understanding between the two institutions and nations.

The ceremony was officially inaugurated by the Chief Guest, His Excellency Mr. Kong Xianhua, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Maldives. During the event, H.E. Ambassador Kong Xianhua delivered an insightful address emphasizing the significance of the cultural exchange zone in enhancing the long-standing and friendly bilateral relationship between China and the Maldives. He highlighted the importance of educational and cultural partnerships in fostering mutual understanding and creating opportunities for future collaboration.

The China–Maldives Cultural Exchange Zone aims to serve as an interactive learning and engagement platform, providing students and academics with opportunities to broaden their knowledge, connect across borders, and experience diverse cultural perspectives.

The event concluded with the screening of captivating videos showcasing intangible cultural heritage, student travel testimonials, and vibrant traditional cultural performances presented by the Maldives National University Students’ Union (MNUSU), celebrating the spirit of friendship and cultural exchange between the two nations.

Through initiatives such as this, The Maldives National University remains committed to strengthening international partnerships and creating meaningful opportunities for students and the wider community to engage in global learning, academic collaboration, and cultural exchange.
