Fahi MNU Outreach Trip Brings Teacher Development and Student Guidance Across Island Schools

As part of the Fahi MNU Outreach Trip, the Maldives National University team conducted a series of impactful sessions across several island schools in Huvadhu Atoll, strengthening learning support for both teachers and students through professional development, study skills, and career guidance.

At GDh. Atoll School, two key sessions were delivered. A professional development programme for teachers was facilitated by Shihanath Ibrahim, Senior Lecturer from the Faculty of Education, introducing the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to support inclusive and engaging classroom practices. Students also took part in a career guidance session led by Hassan Waheed, Lecturer at the MNU Business School, focusing on exploring career pathways, setting goals, and making informed decisions for the future.

The team also visited Gemanafushi School, where teachers participated in a session on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) delivered by Shihanath Ibrahim, Senior Lecturer from the Faculty of Education. A student-focused career guidance session was conducted by Abdulla Soadig, Lecturer at the MNU Business School, supporting students to identify interests, consider future options, and plan for their academic and career goals.

During visits to Hoadehdhoo School, Madaveli School, and Nadella School, the Fahi MNU team conducted a range of engaging sessions for both educators and learners. Teachers from Hoadehdhoo and Madaveli joined a session on Active Learning Using Web Tools and lesson design using ChatGPT and Canva integration, while teachers from Nadella participated in a session on Process-Based Multimodal Assessments: Rethinking Assessment in the Age of AI. Both teacher sessions were facilitated by Ibrahim Adam, Instructional Designer from the Centre for Educational Technology and Excellence (CETE), sharing practical strategies to enhance classroom engagement and adapt to the evolving education landscape.

Students benefited from a Study Skills session facilitated by Mohamed Shameem Adam, Senior Lecturer from the Faculty of Education, focusing on improving learning strategies and time management. In addition, a Career Guidance session was delivered by Hashim, Senior Lecturer from the MNU Faculty of Arts, helping students explore future pathways and set academic goals. The outreach visit also included an Awareness Session for Parents at Nadella School, conducted by Ibrahim Adam, offering guidance on how parents can better support their children’s learning journey.
