The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), The Maldives National University (MNU), brought together 30 students and 10 staff members for Pharmacy Night 2025 on 23 September 2025, held in conjunction with World Pharmacists Day. The event provided an informal and interactive setting for students and lecturers to connect, reflect on their university experiences, and celebrate the role of pharmacists in healthcare.
Organised as an opportunity for engagement beyond the classroom, Pharmacy Night encouraged open communication between students and academic staff while creating space for students to share their experiences, achievements and aspirations. The programme highlighted the contribution of pharmacists to healthcare and public health, while encouraging students to reflect on their developing professional identities.
Students representing different batches delivered creative presentations showcasing their campus experiences, accomplishments and future aspirations. These presentations encouraged interaction between junior and senior students and provided an opportunity for students to learn from one another’s academic journeys.
The evening also featured interactive and recreational activities designed to promote participation, teamwork and collaboration. Through these activities, students and staff were able to engage in a relaxed environment, strengthening relationships across different student cohorts and contributing to a stronger sense of departmental community.
The event demonstrated the value of creating opportunities for students and staff to engage beyond formal teaching and learning activities. By combining professional reflection with social interaction, Pharmacy Night supported communication, teamwork and peer connection, contributing to a positive and supportive learning environment within the Department of Pharmacy.
The celebration also provided an opportunity to reinforce students’ connection with the pharmacy profession and its contribution to public health. Such activities complement formal pharmacy education by supporting students’ interpersonal development, professional identity and sense of belonging within the academic community.
Pharmacy Night 2025 reflects FHS’s commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment in which students can build meaningful relationships with their peers and lecturers while developing both personally and professionally. The initiative aligns particularly with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) through its focus on the pharmacy profession, student development and a supportive educational environment.
