Seminar – Exploring AI’s Role in Advancing Marine Research
A seminar highlighting the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to analyse audio data collected from the open ocean environment was held, offering students a glimpse into the growing intersection of technology and marine science. International researchers collaborating with MNU shared their expertise on data collection methods and the application of AI tools for analysing the gathered audio data. Their insights underscored how AI can process vast amounts of underwater sound recordings, helping scientists better understand marine ecosystems and species behavior.
Sixteen students from the Bachelor of Marine Science and Bachelor of Environment Management course participated in the seminar, gaining valuable insight into how emerging technologies can advance marine research and conservation. The event reflects a broader trend of integrating AI into environmental studies, equipping the next generation of marine scientists with the skills needed to harness cutting-edge tools for protecting the ocean.
