The Maldives National University has officially announced the Theveli International Conference 2026, scheduled to take place from 17-19 August 2026. The conference programme will commence on 17 August 2026 with a dedicated Undergraduate Student Research Symposium, open to MNU Bachelor’s degree students, while 18-19 August 2026 will be dedicated to Theveli International Conference presentations. This will be followed by post-conference workshops on 20 August 2026. The conference will once again bring together researchers, academics, practitioners, and students from diverse disciplines to engage in meaningful dialogue on contemporary global challenges.
Theveli 2026 will be convened under the theme “Transformative Innovation in the 21st Century: Science, Technology, and Society,” highlighting the critical role of research and innovation in shaping sustainable, inclusive, and resilient futures.
The announcement follows the success of the Theveli International Conference 2025, which received 237 research submissions from 18 countries, including the Maldives, with over 50 papers submitted by international participants. These figures underscore the growing international recognition and impact of the Theveli International Conference series.
The conference will feature nine interdisciplinary sub-themes, encompassing: Sustainable Futures and Climate Action; Innovation, Technology, and Digital Transformation; Science, Health, and Human Well-Being; Global Governance, Peace, and Development; Education, Knowledge, and the Future of Work; Gender, Equity, and Social Transformation; Resilient Economies and Future Markets; Interdisciplinary Research and Global Collaboration; and Artificial Intelligence, Ethics, and Human Futures. Together, these sub-themes aim to foster cross-disciplinary research and evidence-based solutions to complex societal issues.
Key submission deadlines have been announced for prospective contributors. The deadline for abstract submissions is 31 May 2026, followed by the full paper submission deadline on 30 June 2026. Presentation submissions are due by 30 July 2026, while posters must be handed over to the Research Development Office by 13 August 2026. Early Bird registration closes on 05 July 2026, and registration for presenters will close on 05 August 2026. Both online and on-site registration will be available for conference participants throughout.
To recognize excellence in research and academic contribution, four awards will be presented during Theveli 2026: the Outstanding Paper of the Conference (OPC) Award, the Early Career Researcher (ECR) Award, the Undergraduate Research Excellence (URE) Award, and the Best Faculty Award (BFA).
With its strong foundation, growing international engagement, and forward-looking theme, the Theveli International Conference 2026 is expected to further strengthen research collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange, reinforcing its position as a leading international research conference.
