Fostering inclusive growth and decent work, driving innovation, productivity, and long-term sustainability

Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

The Maldives National University was formed in 2011 through the consolidation of several training institutes and centres that were originally founded to advance decent work and economic growth through the development of competent professionals in their  respective fields. These included the Allied Health Services Training Centre, the School of Hotel and Catering Services, the Maldives Centre for Management and Administration, the Institute of Teacher Education, and the Vocational Training Centre. The MNU has continued this mandate, and expanded its academic portfolio to include fields such as law, arts, fisheries, agriculture, information technology, science and medicine. Guided by its vision of being the nation’s leading academic institution and one of the finest in the region, MNU remains a key contributor to national development through workforce development and promotion of meaningful research aligned with the MNU vision and mission.
