Stakeholders Validate Updated Primary Health Care Curriculum

4 February 2025

The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) at The Maldives National University (MNU), in collaboration with UNICEF, convened a stakeholder workshop on 4 February 2025 to review the updated Primary Health Care course curriculum. The 64 participants examined its structure and content against the national primary health care system and Ministry of Health requirements.

Stakeholders provided feedback on learning outcomes, curriculum content and national workforce needs. Their recommendations were incorporated, and the curriculum was finalized. The consultation linked academic programme development to the practical needs of health services and the professionals who serve communities across the Maldives.

The process illustrates how structured stakeholder input can shape a health workforce curriculum before it is delivered to students.

This stakeholder-led curriculum work supports SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through preparation of primary care professionals, SDG 4 (Quality Education) through programme improvement, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration with UNICEF and national stakeholders.
