CFOS contributed to a career guidance and stream selection session for students of Iskandar School, aimed at helping young learners make informed decisions about their academic and professional futures. The session introduced students to the diverse opportunities available in marine science, fisheries, and environmental management. Through interactive discussions and presentations, the CFOS Dean shared insights on career pathways, required qualifications, and the growing demand for skilled professionals in ocean-related fields.
The event formed part of CFOS’s broader commitment to community engagement and human resource development in the marine sector. Students learned about the range of academic programmes offered at MNU, including diploma and degree pathways in marine science, fisheries, and environmental management, as well as the practical skills and field experience these programmes provide. The Dean also highlighted emerging career opportunities in areas such as ocean forecasting, aquaculture, marine spatial planning, and coral restoration, which are increasingly vital to the Maldives’ blue economy. By connecting secondary school students with real-world role models and clear academic pathways, the session sought to inspire the next generation of Maldivian marine professionals and address the growing need for local expertise in the sustainable management of the nation’s marine resources. Teachers and students alike welcomed the initiative, noting that early exposure to career options plays a crucial role in helping young people align their subject choices with their long-term aspirations.
