The seminar, held at the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO) in Beijing, China, brought together representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Maldives National Skills Development Authority (MNSDA), the Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA), and higher education institutions across the Maldives. A total of 20 participants took part in the
program. Through lectures, field visits, cultural exchanges, and institutional visits, participants gained valuable insights into China’s education system, technical and vocational education, innovation, and governance. The program highlighted effective strategies for aligning education with industry needs, workforce development, and national priorities. These experiences directly support Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by promoting inclusive, relevant, and skills-based learning. The seminar also strengthened international cooperation and knowledge sharing, contributing to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. The knowledge gained will support efforts to modernize higher education and technical and vocational education in the Maldives, fostering innovation, institutional capacity, and sustainable national development.

The seminar outcomes will strengthen higher and vocational education in the Maldives through knowledge sharing, policy development, curriculum enhancement, and international collaboration. Participants will disseminate best practices within their institutions and contribute to aligning technical and vocational education with national priorities and industry needs. Institutions will explore competency-based learning, digital technologies, and practical training approaches while developing a roadmap for digital transformation. Partnerships with Chinese institutions and stronger collaboration with local industries will support innovation and workforce development.
