Public Health Conference 2025

Equitable Access, Reduced Vulnerabilities: Advancing Migrant Health in the Maldives
8th - 10th December 2025

The Public Health Conference 2025 marks a renewed national commitment to convene a public health platform every two years, creating space for continuous dialogue on system priorities, emerging challenges, and progress across the sector. This year held in collaboration with The Maldives National University, the conference brings together health professionals, government partners, and community organizations to share knowledge, strengthen collaboration, and celebrate collective contributions to public health in the Maldives.

The theme of this year’s two-day conference is “Equitable Access, Reduced Vulnerabilities: Advancing Migrant Health in the Maldives, uniting stakeholders to advance policy implementation, improve service delivery, and address the vulnerabilities faced by migrant communities. Through technical sessions and collaborative discussions, the conference aims to drive practical, evidence-informed action toward more equitable health outcomes.

The event concludes with a closing ceremony showcasing the key outputs of the conference, alongside national public health milestones and recent achievements across the sector, reinforcing the country’s commitment to a stronger, more inclusive public health system.

The conference aims to:

  • Strengthen dialogue and understanding of strategies to ensure equitable access to quality health services for migrant workers.
  • Strengthen national dialogue on inter-ministerial and multi-sectoral coordination to institutionalize a whole-of-government and whole-of-society response to migrant health.
  • Explore vulnerabilities that increase health risks among migrants and identify solutions to reduce them.
  • Share evidence, experiences, and best practices at national, regional, and international levels.
  • Strengthen multi-sectoral collaboration between government agencies, employers, international organizations, NGOs, academia, and migrant communities.
  • Develop actionable recommendations for the effective implementation of Policy Areas 1, 3 and 4 of the National Migrant Health Policy.
