Biography

Ms. Aishath Majidha Hassan is a senior lecturer at the Maldives National University. She joined the Faculty of Health Sciences of MNU in 2001 as a senior tutor, after graduating from the first batch of Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology course at MNU. Majidha has completed Bachelors in Medical Laboratory Science at Curtin University (Perth) and Master of Laboratory Medicine at RMIT University (Melbourne).

Majidha is a committed lecturer with a passion for teaching and dedicated to providing students with quality education in the field of medical laboratory science. She has a strong technical background and demonstrates the ability to effectively deliver complex concepts to her students. Her main areas of teaching interest are microbiology, immunology and molecular biology.

During the 22 years of service at MNU, she had filled many roles. She has held the position of the head of department of Biomedical Sciences for two terms. Majidha engages in student coordination and has filled the role of course coordinator for Medical Laboratory Science course. Currently she provides guidance to over 40 students as the batch coordinator.

Majidha plays a vital role in the course curriculum development and academic planning activities. She contributes actively to faculty committees, and has served as member of the faculty advisory committee, curriculum committee, management committee and academic review committee. Majidha participates in continuing education activities such as workshops, seminars and conferences to further her knowledge and skills.

Majidha’s research interest is in the broader area of microbiology and immunology. Her master’s project was on the characterization of a novel enterovirus, which included molecular characterization of the viral genome and 3D-homology modeling of the virus. She has contributed to a number of research projects as a researcher. Currently she is involved in a research on antimicrobial resistance.
