Ms. Aishath Maharath is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Health Sciences, The Maldives National University. Having completed her BSc in Medical Sciences and Graduate Diploma in Education (Training and Development) from Curtin University, Australia, she graduated with MSc by Research in Medical Technology from Mahidol University, Thailand.
Since joining the Faculty of Health Sciences at Maldives College of Higher Education and its evolution into a faculty of The Maldives National University; she has contributed immensely to its development with her knowledge and clinical experience.
In 2014, she developed the then existing Diploma program into Bachelors in Medical Laboratory Sciences. During the course of her long service in the Faculty, she completed two consecutive terms as Head of Department of Biomedical Sciences. As the Course Leader for the Bachelor’s degree program, she perseveres towards the continuous improvement of the course.
Without detracting from her primary roles as Course Leader and Senior Lecturer, Maharath has accomplished research as well, in the field of Biomedical sciences; culminating in publications related to topics such as Immunotherapy as well as Antimicrobial Resistance. Aishath Maharath has also lent her knowledge, insight and experience in the service of committees at national level such as the National Antimicrobial Resistance Committee; as well as committees within MNU such as the Academic Senate, the Student Appeals Committee, the Committee on Courses as well as the Research Ethics Committee.
