MNU Thinadhoo Campus participated in the Ailee Haveeru event organised by Thinadhoo City Council as part of the celebrations marking 60 years since the repopulation of Thinadhoo.

The event brought together families, children, institutions, and community members in a joyful atmosphere to celebrate Thinadhoo’s history, identity, and community spirit. As part of its participation, MNU Thinadhoo Campus conducted a range of engaging activities for children, with a focus on traditional games, local heritage, and interactive learning.

The campus included traditional children’s games such as Rumaa Kulhun, a game similar to Duck Duck Goose, and Dhalhu Vettun, a fun activity similar to bowling using cans. A flip board game featuring historic landmarks of Thinadhoo was also arranged, giving children and visitors an opportunity to learn about important places connected to the island’s history in an enjoyable way.

To make the experience more memorable for young visitors, sweets and popcorn were given to children who visited the MNU activity area. These simple gestures helped create a welcoming and child-friendly space within the wider community celebration.

The activity promoted cultural heritage, intergenerational learning, child-friendly engagement, community participation, social unity, and appreciation of local history. By using traditional games and historic landmarks as part of the activities, MNU Thinadhoo Campus helped children connect with the island’s past while enjoying meaningful recreational experiences.
