The Maldives National University (MNU) Library conducted a General Orientation Session for approximately 250 students on 5 February 2024, as part of the University’s orientation programme.
The 30-minute session provided students with an introduction to the MNU Library and its role in supporting their academic journey. Students were introduced to the Library’s key services, resources, facilities, and procedures, helping them understand how to access and make effective use of Library support throughout their studies.
The session also familiarised students with the range of academic resources and facilities available to support learning, research, and independent study. By providing students with this information at the beginning of their university journey, the orientation encouraged them to become confident and active users of Library services.
Through orientation programmes such as this, the MNU Library continues to support quality education and lifelong learning by helping students develop the knowledge and skills needed to access and use information effectively. The session also promoted responsible use of information and academic integrity, supporting students in producing credible academic work and preparing them for ethical professional practice.
By providing access to educational resources, information services, and technology-supported learning facilities, the Library contributes to knowledge sharing, innovation, and the development of an informed academic community. These efforts also strengthen opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange in support of sustainable development.
