The Maldives National University (MNU) Library celebrated Library Day 2026 on 3 September 2026 under the theme “Around the World.” The celebration was held across the University’s seven libraries: University Central Library, Business Studies Library, Health Sciences Library, Hithadhoo Campus Library, Kulhudhuffushi Campus Library, Thinadhoo Campus Library, and Gan Campus Library.

The celebration took place from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with students, staff, and library users participating in a range of activities organised across the libraries.

The theme, “Around the World,” was reflected through activities that introduced participants to different countries, cultures, and ideas while encouraging active participation and interaction. The programme featured a series of games and creative activities, including World Memory Game, Around the World Doodle, Don’t Touch the Color, Pin Your Dream Destination / World Riddle, Win with Cups, and Scattergories.

The activities were designed to encourage creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, memory, general knowledge, and problem-solving skills, while providing participants with an enjoyable and interactive experience.

Library Day also provided an opportunity to promote greater engagement between the MNU Library and its users across the different campuses. The celebration highlighted the Library’s role as a space that supports not only academic learning and access to information, but also creativity, cultural awareness, social interaction, and lifelong learning.

The MNU Library extends its appreciation to the students, staff, and library users who participated in the activities, as well as all staff members who contributed to organising and conducting the Library Day celebrations across the seven libraries.

Through Library Day 2026, MNU Library continued its efforts to strengthen user engagement and create meaningful opportunities for the university community to learn, participate, and connect through the Library.
