The Maldives National University (MNU) held the Investiture Ceremony for Mr. Adam Khalid, reaffirming his appointment as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology (FEST). The event marked a significant milestone, celebrating Mr. Khalid’s eighteen years of dedicated service and his continued leadership in guiding the faculty towards growth, innovation, and international recognition.
Mr. Adam Khalid first joined MNU on 23 May 2005 as an Assistant Lecturer at the then Faculty of Management and Computing. His journey at the University has spanned nearly two decades, during which he has demonstrated exceptional commitment to academic development and institutional progress. Since 2014, he has served at the Faculty of Science, now FEST and has held the prestigious role of Dean since 2021.
During the ceremony, Mr. Khalid outlined his future vision for FEST, emphasizing the development of internationally recognized PhD and Master’s programmes that contribute to global knowledge and attract international students. He highlighted the Faculty’s commitment to strengthening research, enhancing academic quality, and ensuring that FEST graduates become independent thinkers equipped with strong technical and critical-thinking skills.
Mr. Khalid also stressed the need to modernize the Faculty’s laboratories, studios, equipment, and learning spaces to meet international standards. Addressing current challenges openly, he reaffirmed his commitment to securing new opportunities, expanding capacity-building initiatives, and strengthening industry connections within FEST’s curriculum and research endeavours.
Speaking at the ceremony DVC, Dr. Ali Fawaz Shareef commended Mr. Khalid’s long-standing expertise in the field of Computer Science, recalling his pivotal role at NCIT as the lead architect in shaping the National Systems’ software engineering framework. Also highlighted the importance of diversifying funding sources for laboratory development an integral step towards elevating the Faculty’s academic and research environment.
