3rd September 2026

The Maldives National University (MNU) Book Fair 2026 was officially inaugurated today, bringing together publishers, booksellers, authors, and readers.

The opening ceremony was graced by the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, as the Guest of Honor. During the ceremony, the Guest of Honor launched “Eid of Joy in Maldives”, authored by Ashia Leela Ahmed under the MNU Book Writing Grant.

The MNU Book Fair 2026 showcases more than 3,000 items, featuring a diverse collection of books covering a wide range of fields, alongside educational resources and other reading materials. The fair also includes a selection of engaging games and activities specially designed for children, providing an enjoyable and interactive experience for young visitors.

A total of 42 participants are taking part in this year’s fair, with exhibitors and activities spread across three designated areas: the MNU Central Administration Courtyard, the foyer, and the PE Hall on the third floor of Block B.

The fair is open to the public from 3 to 5 September 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. each day, offering members of the community an opportunity to explore and purchase books and educational resources.

The MNU Book Fair continues to serve as an important platform for bringing together publishers, booksellers, authors, and readers. It also provides Maldivian authors with an opportunity to showcase their literary works, written in various languages, and connect with a wider audience.

With a strong response from the community continuing from previous years, MNU Book Fair 2026 aims to promote a culture of reading, encourage literary engagement, and create greater opportunities for the public to access books and educational resources.
