The Maldives National University (MNU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Johannesburg (UJ), South Africa, marking an important step towards strengthening international academic and research collaboration.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Aishath Shehenaz Adam, Vice Chancellor of MNU, and Prof. Tankiso Moloi, Executive Dean of the University of Johannesburg. The MOU establishes a framework for cooperation aimed at supporting and advancing the academic and research objectives of both institutions. Through this partnership, MNU and UJ will engage in a wide range of mutually beneficial activities designed to enhance research output, academic exchange, and capacity building.
Under the agreement, key areas of cooperation include the development and implementation of joint research projects, collaboration in the exchange of and access to research-related information and data, and the conduct of other activities of mutual interest. These activities may include research initiatives, human resource development, training programmes, and on-the-job experiential learning opportunities. The partnership also provides for the organization of special lectures and academic engagements in areas of shared interest.
This collaboration reflects MNU’s continued commitment to expanding international partnerships and strengthening its role in global academic and research networks, while creating meaningful opportunities for staff and students through international engagement.
