On 23 August 2026, the Faculty of Arts at Maldives National University received a donation of 35 Marugoto Japanese language textbooks from the Japan Foundation, New Delhi. The ceremony was attended by H.E. Ms. ISHIGAMI Rumiko, Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives, representatives from the Japan Foundation and the Embassy of Japan, MNU representatives, and Dr. Kana Shigematsu, Japanese Language Specialist at MNU.

The textbooks will be used in Japanese language courses at MNU from this semester, supporting students’ Japanese language learning and the further development of Japanese language education at the University.
