On 1 December 2025, as part of The Maldives National University’s social responsibility initiatives, the Faculty of Shari’ah and Law, in collaboration with the F. Magoodhoo Council, conducted a three-day program titled “Janā’iz Short Course.” Organized by the Department of Islamic Studies, the program aimed to equip participants with practical knowledge and skills in Islamic funeral rites and related procedures.

The sessions were delivered by the faculty’s lecturers, Sheikh Azmath Jameel and Sheikh Mohamed Irshad. The program strengthened local capacity by preparing community members to carry out funeral rites in accordance with Islamic principles, helping ensure that families receive timely and appropriate support during bereavement. This initiative reflects the University’s commitment to community engagement, practical religious education, and social responsibility.
