Health Promotion Event -Thinadhoo Campus

A community health-promotion event was conducted in Thinadhoo to provide the public with clear, relevant information on healthy lifestyles, disease prevention, early recognition of health concerns, and appropriate help-seeking. Nursing students and staff used educational and interactive approaches to make health messages understandable and locally accessible. The activity also offered students an opportunity to apply nursing knowledge, communicate with diverse community members, and strengthen teamwork and leadership. It supported good health and well-being, quality education, reduced geographical inequalities, sustainable communities, and partnerships between MNU and island communities.

The event directly reached 98 participants and improved access to practical health information within the Thinadhoo community. It encouraged preventive behaviours and informed health choices while strengthening students’ competence in health education, communication, teamwork, and community engagement. Conducting the programme outside Greater Malé also supported more equitable access to university-led health-promotion activities.
