Data collection phase for Global Point Prevalence Suvery-Inpatient module was conducted. This is part of the activities under the project SCALE(Stregnthening health care workforce capacity through global learning). An ongoing project is a partnership between NHS Northumbria and MNU to stregnthen the surveillance of Antimicrobial Resistance(AMR) and achieving reduced hospital acquired infections and antimicrobial stewarship in selected Regional Hospitals of Maldives.

The process transferred skills and expertise to respective staff of Hulhumale’ Hospital, to continue HAI, AMR and antibiotic prescribing practices surveillance in the hospital. It also collected critical data on HAI, AMR and antibiotic prescribing practices in Hulhumale’ Hospital to drive AMS through specific IPC and prescribing inteventions. The activity is aligned with strategic objective, 4 5 & 6 of the National Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance(NAP-AMR)- 2024-2029.
