The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies (FHTS) welcomed 25 students from Villa International High School on 13 May 2026 for an educational and experiential program designed to introduce students to hospitality and culinary education.

The programme included a guest lecture delivered by FHTS Dean Ms. Zeenath Solih, exploring cultural influences on cuisine, menu planning, and the diverse opportunities available within the hospitality industry. The session provided an opportunity for education and learning beyond the school environment while introducing students to hospitality as a potential area for further study and future careers.

The classroom session was complemented by a specially hosted four-course lunch prepared by the faculty. Featuring Asian-inspired dishes and beverages, the experience introduced students to elements of Asian cuisine while providing practical exposure to food presentation, dining etiquette, and hospitality service standards. By combining classroom-based knowledge with experiential learning, the programme supported the development of students’ knowledge and skillsthrough direct engagement with culinary and hospitality practices.

The visiting students and staff responded positively to both the theoretical and practical components of the program. The experience provided prospective students with an opportunity to explore hospitality and culinary education and gain a better understanding of the learning experiences and opportunities available at FHTS. 

Through collaboration and engagement with schools and the wider community, FHTS continues to promote access to education and learning and create opportunities for young people to explore future study and career pathways. The initiative also provided a platform to showcase FHTS programmes and strengthen connections between the University and prospective students.
