Maldives Security Outlook (MSO) aims to publish academic and expert analysis on national, regional and international security issues. Our focus is on the Maldives and its regional engagements on national security, military and defence-related issues, such as but not exclusive to, maritime security, climate security, drug trafficking and terrorism and water and food security.
MSO aims to publish regularly, primarily but not limited to by invitation. The main purpose is to facilitate and advance an academic and policy-smart platform for writers and readers of security and strategic studies, and build discourse on national and regional security issues. Its submissions undergo editorial review through academic expert advice. Hence, MSO publications are useful for policymakers, academics, students and researchers as a preliminary source of reference.
We welcome all academics, professionals and students to Maldives Security Outlook (MSO). MSO invites experts in security and strategic studies, and policy to submit original analytic op-ed pieces of around 800-1000 words in length, with the writer’s strong and focused opinion on an issue of relevance to Maldivians and the international audience. We welcome pieces with academic rigour and policy bearing on the national, regional and international issues.
We will not be able to consider and publish pieces that have been published elsewhere and submitted for consideration on other platforms. The submitted pieces will undergo editorial review, with academic expert advice. All accepted submissions will be edited and coached for English fluency and house style; reference – hyperlink, and sent for the author’s clearance before publishing.
