As part of the research visit to Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, representatives from the Centre for Maritime Studies met with Madaveli Council to introduce the Centre’s programmes and discuss potential collaboration in maritime education, research, and community development. The meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen institutional relationships, increase awareness of professional maritime training opportunities, and identify future initiatives that could benefit the local community. Through collaboration with local authorities, CMS aims to improve access to quality education and support sustainable maritime development throughout the Maldives. The meeting also demonstrated the University’s commitment to engaging with island communities and ensuring that higher education contributes directly to local and national development priorities.
