Dr. Ahmed Riyaz Jauharee, Dean of the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) at the Maldives National University, met with Dr. Amzath Ahmed, State Minister for Fisheries and Ocean Resources, to discuss strengthening human resource development in the fisheries sector. The meeting held at MNU Business School, centred on fisher’s training and identifying opportunities for developing talent for the fishing industry. Discussions covered a range of priority areas including skills development, degree-level education, fisheries research, and marine research.
The dialogue reflects ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between academic institutions and industry needs, ensuring that CFOS programmes align with the evolving demands of the fisheries sector. By fostering collaboration between the university and the ministry, both parties aim to build local capacity and create clearer pathways for Maldivians to pursue careers and advanced qualifications in fisheries and marine science.
