Bachelor of Teaching English as a Foreign Language (BATEFL) Students Showcase Confidence and Creativity Through Readers’ Theatre

2 December 2025

The Bachelor of Teaching English as a Foreign Language (BATEFL) – August 2024 Batch proudly presented a vibrant and engaging performance as part of their academic journey within the Faculty of Education. This showcase was conducted by students currently studying the BATEFL programme and was presented under Readers’ Theatre, a key topic covered in the module LIT201: Teaching Language through Literature.

Designed as an immersive learning experience, the Readers’ Theatre performance provided students with the opportunity to actively apply literary and pedagogical concepts in a real-world performance setting. Through expressive reading, character interpretation, voice modulation, and collaborative presentation, students demonstrated how literature can be effectively used as a tool for language teaching and learning in the classroom.

The performance was staged in front of the Faculty of Education senior management, academic staff, and fellow students, offering learners an authentic platform to build self-confidence, communication skills, and professional presence. Presenting before an academic audience also encouraged students to overcome stage fear, strengthen public speaking abilities, and develop the confidence required of future educators.

This initiative reflects the Faculty of Education’s commitment to producing competent, confident, and creative teachers by integrating theory with practice. The BATEFL August 2024 batch’s performance not only highlighted their emerging talents and skills, but also showcased their dedication, teamwork, and passion for teaching English through innovative and engaging methods.
