Drug Use Prevention
Ali Adyb, an Internationally Certified Addiction Professional and Global Drug Demand Reduction Master Trainer, conducted an engaging session titled “The Science of Drug Use Disorders” for our students. The session explored the physiological and psychological mechanisms underlying substance use disorders, emphasizing the complexity of addiction as a biopsychosocial condition. It also highlighted prevention strategies and evidence-based treatment modalities, offering students valuable insights into effective approaches for addressing drug use. Additionally, Ali discussed diverse career pathways in the field of drug demand reduction, inspiring students to consider roles in prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.
Sports Taping workshop
The Sports Medicine Association of Maldives (SMAM), in affiliation with State Trading Organization Plc (STO) Medical Services, provided an excellent learning opportunity for Bachelor of Physiotherapy students. Through this initiative, four final-year interns were sponsored to participate in a Sports Taping workshop, enhancing their practical skills and knowledge in sports injury management and rehabilitation.
Externship of Pharmacy Students
Bachelor of Pharmacy students successfully completed a three-week externship at the Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MCOPS), where they stayed on campus and gained valuable industrial and hospital training experience. During their stay, the students attended seminars, participated in hands-on laboratory experiments, and engaged in various skill-building activities, providing them with rich exposure to real-world pharmaceutical practices.
Medical Science Seminar- by First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed
An insightful scientific presentation on “Antimicrobial Resistance in the Food Chain” was delivered by First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed during the Medical Science Seminar held at the Faculty of Health Sciences, The Maldives National University. Madam Sajidha’s presentation emphasized the crucial role of food safety in addressing antimicrobial resistance and highlighted its significant implications for public health.
