The Maldives National University (MNU), through its School of Medicine, organised a three-day Medico-Legal Conference in collaboration with Medtech Maldives Private Limited. The conference brought together medical professionals, legal experts, researchers, and students from eight countries to exchange knowledge and examine key issues at the intersection of healthcare and law.
The programme featured expert presentations, keynote addresses, and research discussions on medical ethics, patient rights, the legal responsibilities of healthcare professionals, and the importance of effective legal frameworks in healthcare delivery. It also provided a platform for research presentations, including contributions from students of MNU’s School of Medicine.
The conference concluded with a specialised workshop on identifying child abuse in educational institutions. The session aimed to equip teachers and school staff with the knowledge to recognise signs of abuse, understand reporting procedures, and better understand the long-term impact on victims.
The conference reflects The Maldives National University’s commitment to advancing healthcare education, promoting ethical professional practice, and strengthening collaboration between the medical and legal sectors.
