Workshop on Identification of Child Abuse in Education Institutions

The School of Medicine conducted a workshop for school teachers on the identification of child abuse in educational institutions as part of the #MAMELECON2025 initiative. The session aimed to increase teachers’ awareness of signs that may indicate child abuse and strengthen their capacity to recognize children who may be at risk. The workshop contributed to promoting child protection, strengthening community safety mechanisms, and creating safer and more supportive educational environments for children.

The workshop strengthened teachers’ awareness and ability to recognize possible signs of child abuse and neglect within educational settings. It improved understanding of their role in early identification, appropriate reporting, and referral of children at risk. The session also supported the development of safer and more protective school environments by encouraging timely intervention and greater responsibility for safeguarding children’s physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.
